Need Good Thoughts --- Hubby is going to 2nd interview this week

Hubby interviewed for a position this past Thursday (he had the phone interview the week before) and by the time he got home which was a 45 minute drive, his cell phone rang with the HR director wanting to schedule interview #3 for next week.

Hubby has been out of work for 11 months, has applied to over 1000 opportunities, has been on over 7 interviews (both live and phone) and this is the first one to call him the same day as his live interview to schedule another live interview. We are taking this as a good sign but trying not to get too excited.

If everyone could send happy vibes next Tuesday our way, it will be appreciated.

A job is the only thing holding us back from our fresh start.

We had our discharge last month we we hope this is our lucky month to move forward

Fallon - Good luck to Hubby! My other half had to do 4 live interviews, but finally nailed it! Crazy times we live in!

Well after 4 live interviews, Hubby got the call that they choose someone else...I'm so depressed and Hubby I think is just going to give up. I'm going to stop paying on the house and let them foreclose, since we did not reaffirm, we should not have any issues, but knowing out luck we will. I will try to find a rental in our school district for 50% less then what I'm paying now for my mortgage.

scary times, we are now out of all funds, no job, no prospects for a fresh start that I was hoping this bankruptcy would provide.

Fallon - My heart goes out to you, as we were in the same situation. We lived by the seat of our pants, even got food from the food bank a couple of times to get by. I would pull cash on checks I wrote before they would post so I could buy groceries. I know you're discouraged, but try to stay strong. I would have your very same feeling of throwing my arms up, but after my other half would keep getting knocked down, I would say words of encouragement to him to "don't put your eggs in one basket. Keep looking, keep moving, keep yourself talking to people."

My other half just read over my shoulder and he just told me to post these words of encouragement for your hubby, "Tell the man it's not how hard you can hit, but how hard you can take a hit and get back up." I will add my favorite Conrad Hilton quote that I have hanging on my fridge...."Achievement seems to be connected with action. Successful men and women keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit."

Chin up, Fallon...Don't give up yet...our thoughts are with you.

Broke --- Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.

Today was just the day that pretty much broke me.

As I was driving on the expressway early this morning my front tire blew out and as I was spinning out of control, I thought how appropriate this is my life. I had to sit on the side of the expressway for an hour till road service could come and rescue me and then I got about 3 miles down the road and then other tire blew, thankfully I was now on surface roads and only doing 40MPH with flashers on vs 70MPH on the expressway.

I had to spend my mortgage money to buy tires that I can ill afford.

Then hubby calls me to say the position he interviewed for 2 weeks ago emailed him to say they pulled the position and decided that due to the economy still not being great, they decided to split the job function up among the 3 employees in that group vs filling the position. I still had hope because hubby still had the other company that he had interviewed with 4 times and when they called him late this afternoon to tell him that they hired someone else, that was our breaking point.

I have tried to stay positive for hubby for a year now, but I just have nothing left in me. I'm hoping that things will be a bit better looking tomorrow.

thanks again for picking me up, I really needed it.

Tomorrow is a new day, and remember that every day above ground is a good one! Maybe you can suggest to your hubby to look into doing something different he wouldn't normally do to bring money in? Has he tried keeping in touch with old coworkers for any leads? That's how my other half found his new job.

Fallon, hang in there. When a door closes, a window opens. Sometimes we get so stuck looking at the closed door and wondering why that we forget to look around and see the window.

We went through this with jobs as well. I didn't think hubby was ever going to find one, but just as I thought we were done for, a job came in. It's not the highest paying job, and it certainly doesn't compensate him anywhere near what he feels he's worth. It's enough to pay our rent and put food on the table, that's about it.

Everyone here is pulling for you and your husband. Praying a great job comes in SOON!

fallen, I feel your pain. The good news is your hubby is getting live and phone interviews. So at least that is the first and most important stage, just getting a response to the resume. I had 2 live interviews last week. One company sucked, one of those lending companies that charge high interest rates for quick loans. Another one looked like a cool company, but the main interviewer didn't show excitement toward me, just rushed me through the interview in 30 minutes and was very distracted most of the time. I felt a little disrespected. But I guess the person was unorganized and in a hurry, so maybe all isn't lost with this one.

Sorry about the tire blow out. I know how you feel, when you are at rock bottom and something hits, it just kicks you even harder. Stay on focus and try to find something positive to cheer you up. I had my water pump go out last month - $600, so I understand how you feel.

I read these articles that say even if you don't want the job or know you aren't a fit, keep going on the interviews for practice. But I live in SoCal and doing an interview takes away half of a day, $10 - $20 in gas and parking fees, dirtying the suit, half a day in preparing and studying for the company, etc. etc. So I try to prequalify the company as best as possible, to make sure I'm not completely wasting my time before applying.
